Introduction

CHILD-PROTECT-6-PRESENTATION

Community growing Yam, symbol emphasising the importance of the role of parents, caregivers and the community leaders to support and guide the child to ensure the child develops well, similar to the growing of yam. Without proper support and guidance, there will not be a good harvest of yam. Similarly without the proper support and guidance, children will not develop well.

“Our Children Are Our Future” is a Child Protection Facilitation Manual. It is built to teach local facilitators to follow the steps of a workshop to be held in villages.

It is for Vanuatu community leaders, faith based leaders, parents and caregivers to develop a better understanding of children. It draws attention to some of the important issues that children face in their development and aims to find solutions and give them tools to help overcome the difficult situations.

UNICEF Pacific, 2016

The  “Our Children Are Our Future” Facilitation Manual for Vanuatu has been adapted from the Children Are a Precious Gift from God Facilitation Manual for Fiji, which drew from the Journey of Life Manual, UNICEF Myanmar and incorporated aspects of Positive Discipline, What it is and How to Do it by Save the Children Sweden, South East Asia and the Pacific.  The Manual has been produced by the Child Protection Team, UNICEF Vanuatu, April, 2016

Traditional Architecture

Littlebylittle’s new campaign for Public Works Vanuatu, National Disaster Management Office, Shelter Cluster in collaboration with IOM United Nation’s International Organization for Migration and European Union.

It is promoting Vanuatu traditional architecture in the making, involving women, community at large, knowledge and management of natural resources and above all, a philosophy of life.

IOM-HAOS-KOMUNITI

To build a good house you need the whole community.

“All men and women help to build a house. This makes our community bond and think about our common future”.

IOM-HAOS-KASTOM

To build a good house you need traditional knowledge.

“Your first house is your Mother’s belly. Your last house is the Earth. When you’re an adult, it would be good for you to build a house that is good and alive like your mother and strong like the Earth”.

IOM-HAOS-TREES-haos-on-top

To build a good house you need a flower.

“To make a house you need wood. To make wood you need a tree. To make a tree you need a seed. To make a seed you need a fruit. To make a fruit you need a flower : to make a house you need a flower”.

IOM-HAOS-STAMPA

To build a good house you need grass-root knowledge.

“If a cyclone comes, we are safe because our community builds our houses with grass-root knowledge. They make the foundations, connections, perling, rafters and bracings the right way”.

IOM-HAOS-MAMAS

To build a good house you need all the mothers.

“We are the mothers.  We weave our houses’ roofs, walls and mats. Our work has all kinds of styles from our different islands and that makes our culture alive and our houses beautiful”.

Healthy Food for Mothers

This is littlebylittle’s first assignment for World Vision Vanuatu ! The poster “Ol Mamas mas kakai gud oltaem” (All mothers should always eat well) is going to be printed large and distributed throughout the islands. It will serve its communication purpose with the health workers doing awareness and promoting healthy balanced diets for mothers, pregnant and breast feeding. Happy to start working with the Health Technical Advisor Shirley Laban.

WASH Campaign

The Wash Campaign 2016 of the Vanuatu Wash Sector is a complete cross media campaign about Water Sanitation and Hygiene for which I have designed many useful objects (no paper waste, no plastic) to be distributed all over the country. The Music which is shared for free is by Confliction, filmed and edited by Nickyatu Kuautonga and produced by Matthew Hardwick. The Website was put together by Hunter Sizemore who also coordinated over all public presentation.

This campaign was funded by Unicef, coordinated by Adra in collaboration with Ministry of Land & Natural Resources, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, National Advisory Board. With the support and work of Croix Rouge française du Vanuatu, Save the Children, World Vision, Red Cross, Oxfam, Live and Learn.

AELAN GEL

In occasion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign the italian artist Marilena Crosato organized a workshop and performance with a group of mamas working at the Market House in Port Vila Vanuatu. The mamas and young engaged girls became protagonist of the interactive live performance Aelan Gel / Island Daughters, showing their life challenges and their relationship with the power.

Alliance française de Port-Vila organized an exhibition where Marilena and I collaborated, showing a video of the process, photography and a poster I designed for the project.

The text in Vanuatu language bislama says : “We want that all the women in Vanuatu should not shut their mouths. They should not be silent. We should talk about Politics, School, Health, Respect, Violence, Money, Peace, Happiness, Business, Love, Kastom, Family, Religion, Sport, Music, everything ! Everything ! We want that all the women in Vanuatu should not be afraid.”

Child Protection Poster

This is my first design for Save the Children Vanuatu. The Vanuatu Child Protection Program is part of the Australian Government funded “Stretem Rod Blong Jastis project”, Vanuatu Law and Justice Partnership, providing support to the sector priorities of Vanuatu’s Ministry of Justice and Community Services.

Refresher trainings will use this poster to deliver contextual information about Child Rights and Child Protection. It will be followed by further trainings (Positive Discipline, Everyday Parenting, Youth decision making), giving practical Child Protection tools and skills for community members to use.

Climate Change Island

I just finished this big assignment for La Croix Rouge Française du Vanuatu that shows an island divided in two with all destructive ways to manage land and ressources on the left side and all the good ways on the other. Every detail come from years of field work. The poster is very large and will be used to do awareness all around the country’s numerous islands. Thank you Croix Rouge for giving me this opportunity !
